Violence Prevention Program..is it really mandatory?

Are there any consequences in not going? My friend told me it affects your TeleBears appointments in the future if you don’t go…but I highly doubt it…Is this true?

I really don’t wanna go if I don’t have to

I don’t know if it’s mandatory, but I went in the very beginning of the year, and let me tell you:
Biggest fail EVER. No one took it seriously and when there was a Q&A section, a lot of stupid, immature (and hilarious) guys completely embarrassed the speakers onstage.

How long was the session you went to? it seems like every available section now is 2 hours minimum.

Yeah, it was pretty long. Definitely 2 hours, if not maybe 3. By the first hour, everyone got bored and itching to leave, talking in the middle of the presentation, not paying attention at all…pretty embarrassing.

Knowing how disconnected everything is at this campus, I doubt it’ll affect you at all if you don’t attend. It’s gotten to the level where I wouldn’t be surprised if people who didn’t get admitted ended up with TeleBears appointments.

That said, there’s good intentions to the program, and you should try your best to take it seriously. Even if most of the information is useless, you might learn one or two things.

I still have to do the alcohol awareness requirement, although I think if you’re over 25, let alone approaching 30, you should be exempt, haha

How do we do the alcohol awareness requirement?? Is it bad if we haven’t done it yet…?

I don’t know if it’s as important as the sexual harassment panda seminar but I saw it as a req on myberkeleyapp so I figure I better get it done eventually.
