i have played violin for 10 years now and all i can say is it is hard, time consuming work
i think the hardest challenge would be to play in tune (hardest part for anyone even with the best ear!)
if you can hear pitches well you well excel pretty quickly

Yeeah, I’ve played violin since 4th grade, but I never poured my heart and soul into practicing. I’m pretty good, but I would love to play with what you call “mastery” some day. I hope to really start practicing effectively this year and into college.

I have been a violinist for the past 11 years and it is really the kind of instument that takes years and years to so “master.” When it comes to playing the violin, it’s not just knowing how to read notes, it’s also have the correct hand position, the correct bow position, being able to play in tune, being able to shift, vibrato, and so many more things. I don’t mean to discourage you but if you want to be able to pick up something for college apps or for something in college then go with the piano becasue that will be a much easier to “master” than the violin.
