Virginia Tech Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

waitlist in state, Test Opt, 4.05 W GPA, signif. leadership, awards and EC, part time jobs. He’ll elect to stay on the waitlist for now and we’ll stay tuned to upcoming other offers or ones already on the table in the meantime. gulp. I kindof expected that to happen.

DD waitlisted. OOS, Architecture, TO, W 4.75, lots of APs and ECs with leadership as well as experiences fit to major. BArch programs are competitive and small and VT doesn’t take a portfolio so she wasn’t surprised to get waitlisted.

Congrats to those who got in!

Same for my OOS daughter - Architecture with similar HS qualifications (33 ACT but not sure if she submitted). Disappointed but not entirely surprised.

Congratulations to those accepted!

Congrats to all that were accepted this evening! Can someone please explain how their waitlist has worked in the past? What is the likelihood of being accepted off of the list? Also, is there any reason to contact the regional rep to show continued interest? Thanks!

in 2024-25 they accepted 1500 applicants off the waitlist. (for reference around 17000 got waitlisted and 11000 accepted the spot on the waitlist)

and in 2024 (and I believe 2023) they accepted no one off the waitlist.

they don’t defer. I haven’t heard of any rejections yet from among my son’s group. They’re about 50% waitlist of his large peer group he’s telling me about (all in state- 4.xx GPA unweighted, leaders/involved kids. IB diploma candidates)

The form to fill out to retain a place on the WL apparently specifically says do not reach out to add more details, Letter of continued interest, etc. They want Y/N to keep yourself on waitlist and that’s all.

Continued interest means nothing to them. Waitlist is different every year. My brothers year, no one was pulled off the waitlist, the years before and after, many were.

S26 got into VT instate, 4.4wgpa, 1460 SAT!
