10/25/2024 Action Needed: VT Academic Materials Incomplete
Just guessing but has your student completed the SRAR? VT doesn’t require a transcript during the admissions process (unless enrolling after acceptance) so it may be the SRAR.
1st quarter Senior year grades are in and GPA went up!! Does it help to send the 1st quarter grades/GPA in or have the reviews already started and doesn’t matter?
What I understand from most schools, at this point it doesn’t, unless you’re on the fridge and are prompted by the school to provide updated info. However, doesn’t hurt to reach out to VT admissions and ask.
Dd applied 11/10. In state pre-vet. By far her first choice but she went test optional so I’m concerned.
I would go back and look at the 2024 thread to see what those accepted did. I know there were plenty of students with amazing stats that were not accepted, but I can’t remember how in particular the test optional fared. Good luck to your daughter!!!
When will the decisions be out? Reading last year’s thread, some heard in December?
I was on an Admissions IG live last month and asked about December notifications to which they said “Not this year”…but who knows? Waiting till mid Feb seems awful.
There’s a “college decision dates calendar” pinned thread on here. In the comments on the thread, one person said they reached out to VT Admissions and were told it would be 1/15. That would be lovely, but I’m not going to count on it. The thing is, though, it behooves the school to announce sooner rather than later. My kid should be hearing from the other three of their four top schools in December and January - that’s a lot of time for them to start imagining themselves there and getting excited about a place. If Tech is last, then they may already have started getting their heart and head set somewhere else.
Yeah, feel mid-Feb is a long way to wait, especially if many EA schools (in similar circuit) are responding by Dec/Jan. How does campus housing work? I have heard some schools want a commitment sooner (not sure if true or just rumor) rather than later due to potential housing crunch. Is it worth waiting until Feb or commit sooner at other school if a close match?
Following, how does housing work at VT?
Priority for choosing housing is based on when they sign their housing contract, after they get admitted and accept. There is additional preference if they apply and join an LLC/LLP (Living-Learning Communities | Living-Learning Programs | Virginia Tech), some of which will provide two years of housing, but in general there is no guaranteed housing after Freshman year.
Any thoughts on if we will hear in December? The wait is hard…!!!
I don’t believe VT releases EA until February. It’s a long wait!
Apparently there were some notifications in December last year (perhaps just highly-qualified earlier-admits?), but per above “Not this year”.
My guess is that caused some chaos for admissions last year with non-notified families calling in for status, etc. Without ED (why?), VT might be better off with well-publicized rolling admissions for EA (even w/ just one earlier notification window ~Dec) vs. everyone waiting until Feb.
