What is his major?

Does anyone know if Honors acceptance and merit are included in the admission announcement? Does VT only consider GPA and testing scores for both, or is it more holistic?

My apologies if I missed any discussion of this prior.

I believe the honors acceptances lean toward a more holistic review. When my daughter was accepted in 2021, honors offers were hit & miss and not necessarily tied to an academic benchmark.

If you don’t get in with your admission, they will offer it to you again after your first semester, assuming you’ve met the GPA requirement. At that time, you’d have to submit an application. As I mentioned above, it’s a good opportunity to talk to students who are already in the honors program and see if it would be a good fit for you.

Agree! Honors offers didn’t seem to follow any certain pattern/criteria from the folks we know who got invited. It also seems to be much less of a thing at VT vs. some other schools we visited, so my Hokie didn’t care that she wasn’t offered it.

VT hasn’t processed my FAFSA, I have seen this movie before and it doesn’t end well.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

History

Did you submit your FAFSA before their priority deadline of 1/22?

Am I correct to say that VT will only accept, reject or waitlist in EA? No deferrals. I couldn’t find any official info about it and in looking back to last year, it looks like only WL (of which they accepted only a handful if that). Things are ever-changing, so I just wasn’t sure (my other child applied when they still had ED and that of course changed).

Wishing everyone best wishes for a happy decision day tomorrow! The wait has been tough, I’m glad it’s ending for S25 and for me to be able to plan visits to remaining schools in next two months.

VT also defers in EA.

Realistically what are chances for oos, applying business with 3.3 and 1230. Is acceptance possible or should my son not get his hopes up.

Virginia Tech’s holistic review process considers many aspects of an applicant, including their academic performance, extracurricular activities, and personal achievements. Good luck to your son!!

I’d not get hopes up.

The score is a bit low. 72% of people who submitted scores had a 4 weighted. 55% with no score had a 4.0.

Not sure of your weighted on their system and not saying he won’t get in but he should prepare to be turned down as near half will be.

Even if so , I’m sure he’ll have great admits.

Good luck.

Hoping we see a post on X from Juan Espinoza soon.
