Waitlisted for Mechanical Engineering

4.4/3.98

She has been accepted to Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue and UIUC so she was a little surprised to be waitlisted. Since they won’t be taking anyone off the waitlist until May 1st, she will be bowing out.

Congrats to all that were accepted!!

DD waitlisted
OOS Engineering, 1590, 4.0UW, 13 AP+, great recs, good ECs and essays, attended Hokie Open House, full pay
Why not just deny if you’re going to yield manage? DD wanted challenge of honors college and now I assume that is gone even if eventually accepted.

Congrats to all accepted students! As you share stats, please use the survey created by @Matthew2655 to collect all data in one place.

There was an animation that ran before the letter popped up. I can’t remember what it said but it was clear it would be an acceptance.

Wow, i can only think yield there. Impressive!

… agree with another post response… yield… not that VT seems overly concerned with yield b/c it doesn’t score well there (so what would be one more?)… but they clearly must thing DD is applying to Duke/JHU/etc.

FWIW… I wondered if it hurts/helps … but we didn’t even both filling out FAFSA as we will not be considered for anything… but then sad to think uh oh, maybe by not filling it out it would be a penalty.

It said the student’s name, and “are you ready to be a Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hy?”

that’s outrageous. I am sure your daughter has many other fantastic options, and this will be great for her in the long run. VA Tech has been a bit embarrassing with some of this to me. Good luck to her and your family.

Congrats to all who were looking for this and got admitted! D25 got waitlisted. OOS. Applied with CS as major. She has other better choices so promptly hit withdraw

Anyone know stats on honors college… specifically how many OOS acceptances?

We learned to only bother apply to HC for those that are in state ¶… the whole goal of HC is to retain state talent.

For this type of stats? Who do they think they are?? I hope your D is not tiny bit upset and quick enough to show her feelings by hitting the withdraw button the next moment
