Virginia Tech questions

My daughter was accepted into the Nutrition programs at Virginia Tech and Penn State. Both have accredited Dietetics programs and she loves both campuses. VT gave her money, but she has a few concerns about the school. Some very important, some very superficial! Advice from any parents with a kid at Virginia Tech would be appreciated.

1- Scared about the Math Emporium since she is not strong at math, and teaching herself Calculus on a computer could be a deal-breaker on where she decides to attend college.

2 - Wants to Study Abroad for a full semester, but VT does not seem to have a strong Study Abroad program that will allow her to still graduate in 4 yrs with her Nutrition major.

3 - Wants to join a sorority, but she’s a jeans and sweatshirt kind of girl and heard sororities at VT have to wear dresses to the football games.

Thanks!

I have a student at VT. The math empo has aides to help students there. My advice: if she struggles with math, go to the math empo where she can get help - don’t do it online in the dorm room. Not enough students go to the empo. Can’t help as far as study abroad. And as far as sororities, I’d recommend that first she check out the clubs and activities that can be resume builders and then see if she has the time or interest in a sorority.
