I’m almost certain I want to pursue medical school. However, I am interested in a field which deals with microbiology/virology and diagnosis of disease. Which field would I enter…pathology, internal medicine…?

Things that come to mind are Hematology-Oncology, Infectious Diseases, or Allergy-Immunology, which are fellowships after internal med. And you have the obvious pathology and you can do a fellowship in medical microbiology or something else if you want.

Don’t forget Rheumatology. That’s another IM fellowship heavy on the immunology. Not so much the micro/virology stuff, but might fit your interests.
