I use Skype and always turn off my camera. Last few weeks I have been in my BJ.
A bit off topic. I have a virtual team from many countries, and may be half had seen my face. One time the guy from Belgium came for a visit. He is 6’8’’, he was so surprised to see me, he said “ you are so small! I thought you were a 6 feet tall woman!”. I had no idea how to take that. I said “What a silly rumor, I am sorry to disappoint you” and he kept saying “no no it’s ok I just thought…wow…”. The heck what does a 6 feet tall woman sound like on Skype? Lol. But incredibly he was much nicer to me afterward, with a faint hint of patronizing ( not that he wasn’t nice before but he is much more tentative now). I am 5 feet on a good day with high heel, makeup and hair done. Sorry not sorry.
I have a post-it note pasted over my camera except if I’m presenting or feel I ought to be on the camera (a trick my computer-savvy H taught me). I’m wearing comfy technical pull on dark slacks, a long-sleeved dark tshirt and light bright red fleece vest. It’s fairly quiet (you can hear birdsong, gecko’s making chirps, intermittent odd sounds from the printer and the sound of typing —my keyboard and H’s) and I’m currently sitting/lying on my couch typing this on my iPad. When we have webinars & similar, I try to sit in my chair at my desktop. That way I can more easily access any documents needed during the talk from the computer.
We’ve pretty much self isolated except for the funeral services on Saturday. Mostly we send the kids to do the few errands (like fetching fresh produce or other ingredients). The kids want us to stay safe as we are >60, have asthma and I have very low lung function.
