Obviously if you have interest in acceptances, they should come first.
Waitlists can be seen as a rejection but a hedge for the school of not enough enroll. So unless convenient to another visit, I wouldn’t focus there. If you do go, ensure someone in admissions knows you are there, especially at a private,
Congrats on so many acceptances. I hope he finds the right school for him.
S21 is in a bfa acting program. We only visited his first choices once he was accepted. If your S is excited about any of the programs then visit. But did he not see them at auditions?
Hi! Congrats to you child! Where is the acting program?
Most of the schools accepted/waitlisted are from Unifieds. The one we’ve been to is Belmont. They have an accepted student day in April. I think S wants to sit in on a class, see a show, ask more questions. I’ve heard “he’ll know” what feels right once he starts touring. I hope it’s true!
We visited 3 of her top choice acceptances. Interestingly, the school she liked least on paper (LIU) was the one she liked most in person (and where she is a current senior). Of course, so much goes into what makes a good impression- we were at LIU on a gorgeous spring day, met up with several very enthusiastic MT students as well as David Hugo, the department head who sold the program. After a season that included so many rejections, I thought doing the tours was so important for her to find a school that she was genuinely excited about.
So encouraging! I know I’m running out of steam at this point. But, imagining my kid finding the school that excites him is motivating. What is going to be a bummer is that NYU Tisch waits until “by April 1st” for regular decision.
Yup. That was my daughter’s final rejection. Luckily we had already visited LIU by then and she was happy with that option. Best of luck. It’s a long and painful process.
