You kind folks helped me with my trip to Santa Barbara, CA and I ask now for advice again. I will be in Richmond, VA for a weekend (1night) and would appreciate a hotel recommendation. On the to-see list is the VA Museum of Fine Art and the botanical garden. Is the Jefferson worth the $$$$ for a night? Other must see places? Thanks in advance.
A short look in at the Tiffany stained glass windows at St. John’s Episcopal Church across the street from the capitol building.
Sounds great. The Tiffany Museum outside of Orlando is a great museum. I should add it to the hidden gems thread.
You might enjoy Maymont. See Maymont.org
Thank you @sabaray. Looks right up our alley.
Honestly, I’d pay the price to stay at the Jefferson. It’s wonderful.
Thanks VaBlueBird
My DD just had her engagement shoot at Maymont - beautiful!
@busyparent, agree that Tiffany one sounds like a good one you could add to the examples of hidden gem museums thread.
The Jefferson is great, as is the restaurant there, Lemaire. The Jefferson also has afternoon tea in the Palm Court Lobby, which has Tiffany glass.
As mentioned, Maymont is terrific. Carytown is a nice neighborhood to walk around in, with shops and restaurants. Have fun!
My son lives in Richmond. VMFA and Maymont are great places to visit. I also love strolling around the neighborhood called the Fan - the area just to the East of VMFA and south of Broad Street. Lots of beautiful houses and gardens. If it’s a warm day and you have time, it’s fun to take the footbridge to Belle Isle and, after a short walk, hang out on the rocks along the James River.
Thanks again. I booked the Jefferson summer package this morning.
