Vocal Fold Polyp Surgery - Anyone else have it done?

<p>I’m having a polyp removed from my vocal cord tomorrow and I woke up today suddenly nervous about it. It is benign, so I’m not worried at all that it’s cancer or something serious. I’m nervous that my voice will change dramatically (I’m not a singer) in that I’ll go from a somewhat lower pitched voice to a higher pitched voice or something else very different from what people around me normally hear. </p>

<p>Did anyone else out there have this done and if so, how did you handle not talking during the recovery?</p>

<p>Snowflake, you may want to ask this in music or musical theater forums. There may be more experience there even though you are not a singer.</p>

<p>Yes, good point, Singersmom. Since I’m not a singer I hope they’ll have me! (But I do follow the music forum on occasion since I have a musician daughter, so maybe they’ll give me a pass on the music talent.)</p>
