Vocal Training at Roosevelt?

Can anyone comment on the vocal training MT students receive at Roosevelt? Also, is voice health taught as part of that training?

You get individual voice training for seven of your eight semesters by some of the best voice teachers in Chicago. Voice health is very high on the priority list.

…and the 8th semester you get what for vocal training??? The 8th being when? Also, how long is the voice lesson and can you pay to have additional time if you want?

The first semester of freshman year you do not get voice lessons. They want you to pass music theory and ensemble singing before you get privates. Lessons are an hour long.

Vocal health is HUGE. We spent an entire week covering it and had to take a pretty extensive test on it. It was wonderful getting that knowlege

How do they go about choosing which voice studio you will be in?

It is chosen after the first semester by Luis, the head of MT, and Nadine Gomes, the vocal ensemble teacher. They are very good at choosing teachers for students that will work with the students specifically on what they need.
