Vocational/Technical Degree?

My mom went through an 11-month cooking course at a vocational college way back when–is this considered a degree? No where on the diploma does it say degree, but neither of us really know–plus, the school doesn’t exist anymore, so we can’t ask them. What’s the definition of a vocational/technical degree? Any thought?

No, that’s not considered a college degree. She got a diploma – like a certification.

To clarify: On the Common App drop-down list, they have “degree received: none, high school, GED, vocational/technical, associates, bachelors, etc.” So should I just put down high school? Thanks again.

Can anyone confirm/clarify this? =)

It would seem that this is a certificate that indicates completion of a specific program - like a hair dresser - or an auto technician - or a home health aid or an LPN/LVN etc… - some fields require a professional liscense in order to work - some fields require a certificate of completion of so many hours of education or training.

In order for it to be a ‘degree’ it would specify ‘degree’ - associates - bachelors, etc…

So what you are referring to is a certificate of achieveent in a specific field/program - not a degree.

You could check off vocational/technical for that
