I got into both NEC and MSM voice program like them both and have similar scholarship offers from both . I had trial lessons with both teachers from both schools and I let them for difffetent reasons .
I am not very well versed in Music Tbeory yet have had piano for a few years and new to Classical singing about 2 years . Would like gravitate toward opera in tne future .
Which school has more performance opportunities for undergrad easier to navigate academic courses less cut throat atmosphere ?
Thank You for the advice in advance
MODERATOR NOTE: I moved to the musical majors thread where I expect you’ll receive more knowledgeable feedback.
Thank You
Your goal initially at both places will be your voice development. Opera roles really require a mature and well trained voice. Please keep that in mind. Very important to build that skill, know how to use your voice well without damaging it, etc.
Both of these programs have graduate schools. Do you want to be in NYC or Boston?
Both places are fantastic coming Texas z Boston feels somewhat safer and New York seems more musically exiting .
Thank You
