Voice Recorder

Can my voice recorder be of any use at UCSD?

only if you use it

no, don’t bring it.

I’m gonna buy this cool digital one which allows you to upload whatever you record to your computer/laptop. I guess it would help me with lectures, but if it doesn’t, I still get a cool digital recorder 8]

You need to have your instructor’s consent prior to recording him or her.

Unless you like listening to your professor more than once (I try to get the job done the first time), then no.

The only reason you might possibly need it is if you fall asleep in class chronically or the professor is incomprehensible and you have a lot of (what the f* did he just say?) moments.

Also, some professors make podcasts of their lectures

Hoeger uploads podcast of his lecture, and while I have to admit it’s useful when I don’t go to class and for last-minute lecture reviews, I hated having to listen to that SOB’s voice any more than I have to.

I also find it difficult to set aside time to dedicate another hour or more to just listening to a podcast. It’s good to hear a snippet or two, but the whole thing over is daunting.
