Does anyone know exactly how these are done for volleyball? My dtr is not interested in a div I school, more div II, div III

I don’t know specifically about volleyball, but I play soccer, for which it’s usually best to have a segment of a good game (more than just a bunch of little hightlights) along with some clips of impressive plays. This way, the coach is able to see that she has consistency (not just one rare moment of greatness) along with anything she’s particularly good at (in your daughters case, this might be blocking, digging, serving, etc…). If you’re looking for someone to do it, there are penty of freelance people all around that are quite good with both filming and editing, just do a search.

Aside from tapes (in soccer at least) coaches will be at tournaments and can get a good look at a player there.

Have you or she talked to her coachs, they could probably provide some good insight.

Also, what year will your daughter be in high school? And is she already talking to coaches (college)… if so, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind giving her an idea of what they’d like to see.

This is pretty standard advice: http://volleyball.about.com/library/weekly/aa021210a.htm – although I’ve heard conflicting thoughts on the length of game tape. The important thing is to make sure the beginning of the game tape shows your daughter at her best, as some coaches will only watch the first few minutes. Some will watch longer, and many like to see at least a full rotation around the court assuming she plays all the way around. Email/call the coaches to find out whether they prefer VHS or DVD. When taping games, stay away from the parents who yell and scream at the players or maintain a running commentary.

Thanks I can use all the help I can get

FWIW, do you know about the web site prepvolleyball.com? It is a for-fee site (annual membership is $20-25) but is it a great site for help with these kinds of issues.

There are two sections to the website. A message board (which you can read for free http://p094.ezboard.com/bprepvolleyball) and then the inside stuff for which you have to pay the fee.

I am not affiliated with this web site and no longer subscribe as my D is done with high school/club vball and decided she wasn’t interested in playing at the college level but back when she thought she was we found lots of good information on these kinds of topics.
