We are trying to come up with some ideas to help our son on Thanksgiving as he won’t be able to come home and it seems that a lot of his friends will be gone. Of course, we will get on the webcam with him during the day, but I suggested that maybe he find somewhere to volunteer for part of the day to help him pass the day with some people. Do any of you have any suggestions? He did say that a lot of his friends would be back by Friday and Saturday and that they all have plans over the break to practice audition material and watch movies. I just feel sad for him on Thursday.

Feeling Thankful?
Here’s a way to give back and alleviate hunger in our community: Help sort and pack cans of food during the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, which benefits several Philadelphia food cupboards.
Sorting dates: November 25, 4 p.m.-7p.m. and November 26, 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.
Place: Old Pine Community Center, 4th & Lombard
Bring your energy and your friends.

Thank you Mainstage. Is that a safe area to walk to by yourself at night? How far of a walk would it be? I’ll mention it to him.

Using Broad and Spruce as a reference, it’s a 12 block walk. During the day, it is certainly a safe walk. At night, it’s generally safe at 9:00 pm but if possible, I would recommend walking with someone if the streets seem empty of the usual foot traffic due to the holiday. A taxi from 4th and Lombard to Broad and Spruce should only be about $5.00.
