I did normal amounts of volunteering during my freshman and sophomore years. But I didn’t do a lot during my junior year (espcially 2nd semester).

I suddenly realized that it was pointless to wake up at 6 on Saturday morning to watch random people walk around. It just doesn’t mean anything to me.

In 2006, I went to Tibet (I’m Chinese) and saw rural kids who can’t even go to school… I decided that I want to teach at a school (for free, of course) during the summers. HOWEVER, I can’t do that this summer, so I have to wait until the summer after my senior year… which is AFTER the whole process :

What can I do? How should I explain it to them? Should I try to do something special this summer?
How much do colleges (UCLA/UCSD) look at volunteering works anyway?
