Should I include this in my UC awards section?

NO! That would make you seem like a computer nerd/weirdo.

Is that a GOOD thing?
I don’t think so. :X

Aw…I only have like three awards: AP Scholar with Honor, Award of Excellence from Science Olympiad, and National Honor Roll…

I suck

National Honor Roll is a scam.

As long as you submit your myspace as a supplement.

Just kidding.

I’ve won messageboard awards for “most interesting”, “most obscure”, “most likely to be a gloria swanson cat lady at age 25”, and “most likely to marry an old man for money”. I should put those on my application.

Don’t put it.

Awards aren’t everything…and even if they were, that one wouldn’t help you.

It sounds more like something you would put as a joke.

dont ever say anything about myspace. because (1) its myspace. (2) beign a myspace addict is nothing to be proud of . no offense.

I stuck an excerpt from my myspace on my resume – the one I gave to my teachers for recommendations – so my teachers would have more to say about my personality. (my guidance counselor in particular) They seemed to like it overall
My guidance counselor told me later she really enjoyed reading it.

yeah, i think a myspace actually could be a very telling factor of those ever-elusive “character traits” in college admissions. i know mine certainly would. although the kids at my school who are applying to Northwestern and Harvard have pictures of themselves drunk, so it wouldn’t be such a good thing for them. :p

although i’m not sure brandeis would appreciate reading my blog, which details a mini-rant on “tall broad shouldered guy” in a literature class i sat in on there. ;)

Depends on who did the voting. If it was just your immediate family, I would say “no.” If it was your entire school, then I would say **** no!

^^Award of Excellence for Science Olympiad… does that even count as an award?? If you medaled, I think you could count those but…

Do not put the myspace award. With all the negative press over it, colleges don’t want that type of label.

guys…the common app says academic honors…myspace is not academic

Hm…
Put it as a hobby?
Or write essay about it.
I’ve heard that someone wrote his essay about the videogame as a hobby.

Actually you could write it under “Other” awards, but I still wouldn’t do it…unless you’re really really really lacking in the awards department.

pejman is that you??

heh I think its kinda of the same calibur as putting prom queen or homecoming court.
its hellla funny

NO! That would make you seem like a computer nerd/weirdo.

Uh, Myspace is for emos, not computer nerds…

post #14 hit the nail on the head.

To put that as an award is really tasteless, IMO.

Also, colleges do not want to see that you are on the internet 24/7. They want to make sure you’re a well-rounded student.
