<p>What do you consider the greatest benefit(s) of a diverse educational community?</p>
<p>I think that there is more than one benefit to a diverse educational community. A diverse, be it cultural or having varied subjects, experience not only matures a person, but also helps them to be a global citizen in every aspect, interlinking diverse boundaries and communities in an effort to make this world a more well-knit place.
Experiential learning in a diverse community progresses cultural interaction and understanding amongst each other, thereby enriching and broadening the horizons of individuals. These experiences aid a person to think out of the classroom, to think keeping in mind the different perspectives of various cultures. It also breaks the stereotypes that people have in mind regarding different cultures. For instance, when I was in India, I always thought of America to be a place where the streets were paved with gold. However, on arrival, the overexaggerated image of America faded, and I realized that Americans were just as others, having their own shares of ups and downs.
Diversity in education is not just limited to culture. It can also be represented by the variety in subjects offered. Art and music courses alongside science and math ones moulds the overall persona of an individual. Research says that the left brain is inclined towards the sciences whereas the right brain is artistically oriented. With a nurturing and balanced educational environment, we can incorporate both sides of the brain in a coordinated manner.<br>
On the whole, a diverse educational experience is the architect of a holistic individual.</p>
