i was admitted ED and online they showed my estimated fin. aid. package [which was pretty good]
but i kno in order to secure the package i have to fill out the fafsa. does penn also need to see my mom’s [and my] w-2 forms since the info i gave them was from 07’ and we just got the 08’ones.
also im worried b/c my w-2 form shows that i made around 8500 this yr but i only have about 4000 saved [i tithe my money and had legit. expenses] and penn is requiring a student contrib. of 2400. i kno ill have money left over but i want to feel financial secure. do they need to see my w-2 forms or will my mother’s be sufficient?
together my mom and i have to come up with 7500 and everything else is covered and i rly dont want to take out a loan so hopefully after i submit the info they dont change the package unless they offer more.

ugh new problem
my mom doesnt want to give me a copy of her W-2 forms and she wont co-sign for a loan. i dont have enough money to pay for my moms parental contribution. if i cant pay for penn then im stuck going to ccp b/c i withdrew my other apps. omg penn is my dream school and now that im so close to being part of it this comes up. do u think the sfs will be sympathetic and cover her contribution?

Your mother can send a digital copy or fax a copy of her W2 to Penn, she doesn’t need to give anything to you. Who exactly is handling the FA process? Your mother doesn’t need to cosign your promissory note for Stafford/Perkins loans. Something tells me you are a bit confused on terms. Understandable as you are a newly admitted college student but if you are misinforming your parent, the problem will be yours.

Are you the recipient of a Pell Grant?

“Your mother can send a digital copy or fax a copy of her W2 to Penn”
she wont do it. the point im making is she doesnt want to, in any way, help me get financial aid.
i wasnt offered any loans, however my mom and i have to pay 7500 dollars [parental contribution and student contribution]. since i cant cover her share i would need a loan and i was under the impression that i needed a co-signer.
