I have a Dash waffle maker and I like it. However, it’s best if you are only cooking for one because it only makes one small waffle at a time. I love making chaffles and one chaffle recipe will make 3 dash-sized waffles (or one regular sized waffle).
Like @kelsmom we have the Presto Flip Side. Makes one large waffle in four minutes. Stores upright in a tiny space, easy use, inexpensive. I love it. It’s my daughter’s, and she says she’s taking it when she moves out. I’ll have to get my own. We make waffles about once a week.
I have the hotel style flip over Belgian waffle maker. I love it and don’t mind that I can only make one at a time. I use it every other month but much more in the winter. I might try some of these variations- they look so good!
@kelsmom @Zinnia203 - super helpful. In my head, the only kind of flip-over waffle maker is the kind I have seen in hotels that have a long handle. When you mentioned storing vertically, I went looking. The ability to store upright is a huge plus. I might get that one and that Dash. I mean, it’s only $10!
We have one similar to the size of the the Dash. Bought at black Friday years ago for 5 bucks. We used it all the time when kids were here. Might drag it out and try some of these new recipes!
We have an old Oster Belgian waffle maker that I got at Kohl’s at least 15 years ago, maybe even 20 years. My husband likes Emiril’s recipe, which is a bit of a fuss but comes out light and fluffy. We do have to make them one at a time. https://www.emerils.com/128421/classic-belgian-waffles
I am intrigued with some of the recipes and will be checking them out. I’m also thinking this might make a good Chanukah/birthday gift for our son. He might like some of the egg and cheese ideas.
My daughter has this book - Will It Waffle?: 53 Irresistible and Unexpected Recipes to Make in a Waffle Iron. She has made a few recipes from it and they turned out well. I am sure she did the zucchini one and really liked it.
I made a waffle hack today. Did not follow a recipe but “my” recipe.
Woke up thinking about cornbread. Well, was inspired after it was mentioned on a podcast while I was walking.
Took a Jiffy corn muffin mix, added 1 egg and 1/3 c. buttermilk. Added fresh kernels from a smaller ear of corn. Chopped jalapeno. Salt, pepper, fresh chopped parsley.
A scoop (so not a full waffle) in each “waffle” Topped with butter and habanero peach jam. Pretty good!
We have an ooooold Black and Decker one that makes four squares at a time. Or you can remove the grids, flip them over and the whole thing opens flat to be a pancake griddle or fold it and use it as a panini press. We didn’t discover until lately that the flat sides are also perfect for warming tortillas! Yes, it’s only one at a time but they only take a couple of seconds since they are heating from both sides. Great for a taco bar where people are taking turns anyway.
I have a thrift store waffle maker that makes 4 cute heart shaped waffles. We have not used it much, mainly because it seems hard to make them low fat. Perhaps I’ll give a try with Pam nonstick spray. We do have tons of kitchen storage, so I’ve not had to to decide whether to part with it.
