my son got waitlisted at UIUS for mechanical engineering. GPA 4, sat 2010( reading 660 math 720 writing 630). SAT 2- math 770, physics 770, chemistry 750, good essays, average teacher recommendations, US citizen, studied in North America until grade 8. after that studied in India, good extra curricular , Indian origin, took rigorous courses, no APs offered at school but took AP calculus and got 4. applied to Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, University of Michigan, Texas Austin, U Wisconsin, NYU, Virginia Tech, U Mass Amherst, UCon. Wondering about his chances.
