BUT UCSC!!! I couldn’t believe it!
My friend with 1690 sat and 3.6 gpa got accepted , I really don’t understand why…
It might have been due to your essay/extra-circulars. Don’t feel too bad I was also waitlisted by UCSC. For college admissions you don’t want to make assumptions before you receive decisions because there are lots of qualified applicants out there, and you shouldn’t judge your friend because you do not know what your friend’s extra circulars/essay, or life story was like. Remember that the UC system is holistic so personal growth, activities, class rigor, and personal circumstances are also taken into account. Instead of being angry I think it would be better to at least reflect on decisions and move on. Rejections and being waitlisted isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. At this point the college decisions have already been made so it is out of our control. If you were accepted to some universities already then be grateful for that. I don’t mean to be condescending towards you but I think it would be wise to not act entitled with decisions because you will only make yourself and others angry. Be happy for you friend for their acceptance.I have some friends who were accepted to schools I was rejected from and I was still happy for them. You don’t want to ruin friendships because of jealousy. Everyone at some point feels jealousy in the college admission process, including myself, and I think that it is best to not think too much of it otherwise you will make yourself unhappy. Just take in what has happened and see what your options are, you might never know you might have a better option for university at another school.
Some people get in others don’t. Sometimes it depends on the major if your major is different from your friend that could possibly be an answer. Most schools have an holistic process. But you still have chance so wait until the end. Best of luck!!
