Wait lists and financial aid

I was waitlisted by a school that I really want to go to. I already sent out an email and letter of intent. Upon further research I found out saying that one doesn’t need aid can increase a students shot at admission, even at a need blind school. I applied for aid but there is a 99% chance I don’t qualify anyways. Should I tell the school that I don’t need financial aid? If so, how should I tell the school?

Yes, send them an email. It may be more credible coming from your parents also. If it’s only a few thousand $, it may be worth it to not apply for aid. It’s also true for RD.

Do you think having my parents contacting admissions could reflect poorly upon me?
