Wait Lists

Oooh, congratulations to him!! Blair seems like an awesome place to be  Thank you!

I went to a revisit day yesterday and many of the kids are still deciding between 2 or 3 schools so there is going to be tons of movement on the 10th! I mean just from the people at my lunch table there are 10 schools who are going to hear a no on the 10th so do not give up hope those on waitlists.

Hammer, what schools are you referring to? Our problem is that we have four choices, we are on two waitlists, and we must commit to one of the four by the tenth. I suppose that everyone has a similar problem. So you think that there will be movement as early as the tenth???

Probably not…Ill just take one of the ones you got into. It’s not worth the risk in my opinion.

I’ve only applied to two schools, so not much hope for me. I haven’t heard much CC talk about the two schools I’ve applied to anyway…?

Boarderkid, hang tough at the two; you have a great chance of making it in off the waitlist. But as a second option, have you considered applying to other schools that take rolling admissions, just in case you do not get into L or P??? There are tons of such schools for a full pay.

We were at the Middlesex revisit this weekend and many of the parents we spoke to were trying to decide between schools still. Schools that were mentioned included Brooks (quite few times), Taft, Tabor, St Marks, Exeter, Andover, SPS, Groton, Governors, Berkshire to name a few.

Applying to other schools that take rolling admissions? I haven’t heard of any schools that do so, but I suppose they take less people in? But no, I haven’t considered applying to other schools.

Thanks cdnhockeymom, but none of those schools are the ones I considered :(

Many schools have rolling admissions. Just in case you do not make it off the waitlists, you might consider contacting schools to inquire as to whether they are taking admissions on a rolling basis. Many, many do, especially for a full pay. But I still think that you have a good chance at getting off the waitlists at L or P.

Hm, I’ll might contact schools for a rolling basis. Maybe. Rolling is when they accept/reject you depending on how many spots are open, yes?

Yes. You tell them you are full pay and ask them if they have rolling admissions. Many, many will, because of the economic situation. Then you apply and may even have a phone interview and they tell you right away. It is as if you start out on the wait list. But I suggest you get busy contacting the schools by phone or email. Just my suggestion, because I know you are still waitlisted at L and P.

I’ll talk to my parents about it, thanks :)

Off the waitlist at Andover!!! I will be a lower!!!

The Deerfield wait list is done now

Wow- congrats zoe! I thought their waitlist was closed right after 3/10 because they were over enrolled?

well actually, i had been waitlisted for the LONGEST time because some kids have still been rejecting and others have not been able to attend again due to financial reasons
it was extremely hard
but, my mom got a call on her cell phone today from a woman at andover, and they offered to pay half my tuition and accepted me!
this is seriously a GREAT day for me.

Congratulations, zoeiszero! :)

Peddie isn’t turning to their waitlist.

What about Hotchkiss?

I’m not too sure, sorry :(

Andover is still keeping some people on the waitlist, though I’m unsure how many will be taken off. This week during afternoons, I’ve had about 15 calls from students confirming their desire to remain on he waitlist. Anything can happen, so good luck to those of you still on.
