How does waiting a few years after graduating from undergrad effect your qualifications for grad school? If I go out there, get work and maybe research experience, and then apply after say, 5 years or so, do things like GPA and test scores matter a little less since I haven’t been in school for awhile?

I applied after being out of school longer than that. I had some work experience, but my grades still seemed important, and my test scores seemed extremely important to people – it was as though I had to prove I was STILL smart.
