Is it ok to wait for the 2009 Taxes and W-2 Forms to be filled before I start filling in the financial information for the FAFSA and CSS Profile?

Depends on when you’re going to file, and when are your deadlines. My D has one Profile deadline Feb 2. However, I am adamantly refusing to complete the FA until I do my taxes (they’re a mess, self employment, etc…VERY different every year and lot of changes last year). So I have my accountant on “standby”. He’s promised to drop everything and get me done in the 3rd week of January, provided his company software has been updated by then (no glitches). But that’s assuming I get all my paperwork (mortgages, interest, W-2, etc.).

So…yes…if you CAN wait, it’s OK. But not many people can get them done in time. Otherwise, you have to “guess”, and later correct. I read on here that FAFSA can be corrected within your online account…but Profile corrections have to be mailed. That’s crazy talk. Good luck.
