<p>This year things may not be the same, of course, but what Yale did last year, according to posts from a 2005 thread from this forum, is accept more ED applicants than in previous years. That group matriculates at about a 90% rate, thus off-setting the lesser RD matriculation rate and, overall, raising Yale’s yield and, consequently, obviating the need to resort to the wait list.</p>

<p>“I am sorry to say that a review of the status of our freshman class indicates that we will not be able to give further consideration to your application. Because of an increase in the number of students choosing to matriculate this year, we are unable to offer admission to any students on the wait list.”</p>
