I got put on the waiting list for Yale, Harvard and Columbia. Now would alumni be able to influence who comes off the waiting list? My interviewer was shocked and told me he’d call admissions tommorrow. I’m not sure how good chances are for coming off the list but would things like that influence results?

I don’t think anyone has come off the waitlist for the past couple of years. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen this year. I’m sure many interviewers are shocked that their interviewees didn’t get in, especially the interviewers who don’t understand what the current admissions game looks like. I seriously doubt a phone call from your interviewer would help. If you win some more awards or have further significant accomplishments and let Yale know about them, that might make a difference if they do draw from the waitlist.

I wish I was on the waiting list…5 Ivy’s and not even one wait list (ilk!)

I doubt an alumni with really no clout in the system can help your case.

I’m on waitlist as well. Would like to know how many ppl were waitlisted this year

700 (about 3%)

are you joking 700 ?
