Waitlist advice

just got into hill, really happy, but waitlisted at Exeter and Deerfield. Exeter is my top most choice and I would love to attend. Along with this, deerfield is my second choice. The problem I have is that nobody will be accepted from the waitlist until after the contract for hill is due. I sent a very long email to Exeter with some pretty large accomplishments since applying and some other stuff explaining my motivation.

the question is, should i stay or wait?

Do not assume you will get an acceptance off of a waitlist. You should deposit at the top choice school where you have an acceptance. If down the road you do get into a preferred school off of a waitlist, then you can switch.

In the meantime, get excited for Hill.

Once in a while, a school will realize prior to A10 that they are going to need to go to their WL. And sometimes, prior to A10, they will inform certain applicants that the WL has closed.

Most of the time, if it happens at all, all movement happens after A10. What that means for you is that you need to deposit somewhere where you have been accepted (Hill) before A10 to guarantee a spot in a class. If you get off the WL, you will lose your deposit.
