Waitlist Appeal Letter. Any advice?

Dear Appeals Committee,

I recently received word that I have been waitlisted at UC Santa Cruz for Fall 2015 incoming freshman. Though I am disappointed, I am writing to inform you of my continued interest of being accepted to Santa Cruz. In fact, your school remains my top choice. Especially after my Junior year when I attended the AVID Junior Trip and learned about the business-economics programs offered on this campus, I knew in my heart this was the school for me. There are so many great opportunities for me to learn and to grow with the help of your professors. It will definitely provide a great education. I have been working very diligently to be accepted to UCSC. I respectfully request the Appeals Committee to reevaluate my application based on the new information provided in this letter.

I am a senior at Chaffey High School in Ontario, California. I am currently wrestling with a busy schedule highlighted by fourth quarter academics, school involvement, and employment. As I squeeze in time to visit and attempt to prioritize the schools where I have been accepted, I thought it might be to my advantage to discuss any additional material that was not included in my application. For instance, my first semester of senior year grades. I finished with a 4.0 and bumped my grade point average from a 3.5 to a 3.68. Having the responsibility of a job, after school clubs, and 3 ap classes, I still managed to make grades and not let the so-called “senioritis” affect me because of my continued determination of being accepted to UCSC.

As UCSC being my number one school, I believe that College Nine would be an outstanding college that would not only help me grow as a student, but would lead me down the path towards the career I wish to pursue. I am interested in Economic Globalization and I believe the Economic and Business courses offered on your campus are amazing. I believe I have a lot to offer to Santa Cruz. I am a determined student who believes I will make a difference on your campus whether it be from participating in clubs and making a voice for the student body, to being dedicated to the UCSC campus and making a name for myself.

I know that your numbers were high this year and you had a competitive pool
to chose from and I know that my SAT scores may not have impressed you. However, I’d like to think that my grades and classes, and my activities and my drive to be successful, will outweigh those scores and convince you that I will be an asset to Santa Cruz’s class of 2019.

I got into UCSC with a low Sat scores. But I will withdraw my spot and hope you replace mine

@chuongnguyen‌ you’re so sweet! thank you! let’s hope!

Is the Appeals committee even the correct addressee? The clearly like you – but they don’t have the space. I don’t think you can even say “please re-consider me” – they have clearly considered you and like you. Just they like others more and, if space allows, may take you. Maybe pull back and just state your absolute desire & ability to attend if they happen to take you

@T26E4‌ I was inputting that until I found a faculty member who works in admission, it’s not the final address. So, I would simply just state my desire? Remove the last sentence of my introduction?

Too wordy. I’d recommend paring it down significantly.

Let me tell you about my story. I got very low SAT score that barely meets requirement, even with the lowest UC school (Riverside). I already gave up when I pressed apply your application, but still did since UC Davis is my dream school. Now I got accepted to UCD, UCSC and UCR. Don’t lose hope like I did  wish you all the best
