Im taking all the possible honors classes at my school. (My school is really small and doesnt offer much). When I first applied, I forgot to mention I was taking business and I had a B from a previous class I’ve taken. When I was updating my grades, (I got a 4.45 for the 1st semester) i made sure to mention i was taking business and I got rid of my B. Im 16, and I skipped my junior year of highschool. Some say my age infringes upon my chances. When I submitted my essay, I feel as if I did the wrong approach. I made a relation of my major to an experience ive had to make me want to go into it. I had a rhinoplasty for my birthday and since then, thats what I wanted to do with my life. If i am admitted, then I do plan on attending.
If you haven’t already done so, let UC Davis know that you plan to attend if admitted.
You selected a competitive major and while there’s nothing wrong with your GPA, your ECs aren’t as strong as someone who’s had that extra year of high school to build leadership roles and a record of commitment. Your age in and of itself may not have much effect but again, that extra year builds maturity that can be reflected in a richer and more nuanced essay.
Still, don’t despair. In past years, Davis has admitted many students from their waitlist. So let them know you’re serious but understand that this is far from a sure thing. If you really feel that UC Davis is the place you’re meant to be, then you have an excellent (really excellent) shot at getting in via Community College. You have the academic aptitude and the extra two years of personal growth would make you a rock solid candidate.
