<p>I got waitlisted at an institution, and I want to get in. But before that, I understand that I need to pay the deposit to my “safety school” in case I don’t make it in. But do you also have to sign the SIR and all the other paperwork at the safety institution?</p>

You may wish to post your question on this sites college admission forum, as it gets more traffic. After payment of the deposit on May 1st, I don’t know how quickly the other paperwork moves along. But always best to fully read what ever comes your way. Also, your high school “college” guidance counselor might be able to answer your question, for it surely isn’t an unusual situation.</p>
