Waitlist Statistics

Does anyone know where I can find UChi’s waitlist statistics from the past few years? Thanks

I believe the average has been about 10% with a range of between 2% and 27%. Very few were taken from the wait list last year because the yield was greater than expected. If one is really interested in being taken off the wait list, one needs to build a case for themselves and not simply wait.

Just a hypothesis:

As Chicago allows the CommonApp now, many uber-qualified (can one be uber-qualified?) applicants have given it a shot without seriously considering to attend it…

Thus its yield drops and many from the wait list are taken ;)

Just to stir some hopes… Oh well…with 0 fin aid and some other obstacles, I really don’t know whether I should compete in this run on the last few seats in class.

Just one problem with your theory: Chicago did not accept the Common Application this year; next year’s candidate pool will be the first to have this “opportunity”.

Oh, and don’t get me started on the idea that “uber-qualified” candidates would only apply if they could make the process easier by using the Common Application.

Sorry to ruin any hope which that theory instilled in you.

Is there a place online to accept the waitlist?

Do you get considered for priority financial aid if you accept your place on the waitlist AND provided the financial aid documents at time of application?

I thought they accepted the Common Application this year and last year. When I visited last year they were talking about how they prefer their uncommon app rather than the common app.

o.O I don’t think they accepted common app for fall 2007 applicants. Otherwise, I would have used it XD

or maybe I was dumb and overlooked it. shrug

i luv the common app, made my life so easy!

Use of part of the Common App will begin for 2008 admissions, and financial aid is made based on need, not when one is admitted, as far as I know.

“o.O I don’t think they accepted common app for fall 2007 applicants. Otherwise, I would have used it XD”

How sad… The Uncommon Application is one of my favorite things about the school.

Uh, that’s probably not a good sign. Your favorite things about the school should be things that have to do with your life at the school. :)
