Is it appropriate to offer a diagnosis of ADHD (previously undisclosed) to Adcom as another item to consider in pulling a student off of a waitlist? In addition to 3Q grades. Or is that just a desperate ploy and may backfire?
IMO the latter (desperate ploy with potential to backfire).
Given a choice between a WL student who has ADHD and another who doesn’t, the ad com very well might choose to go with the one who doesn’t.
I agree with posts #1 and #2. College is the portal to full adulthood. In the real world, bosses don’t want excuses, however they expect excellent performance despite impediments (both real and “convenient”). Acceptance from waitlists is not common, and admissions staff may well perceive a kid who employs the strategy suggested in this thread’s initial post to be an unneeded risk.
