Waitlist success stories

Harvard’s active??? what???

Princeton is definately active. Got my call last night!
Good luck to everyone else and hope to see you there~

Notre Dame is still inactive…

I just got a call from the Carnegie Mellon Admissions Office and apparently they are accepting 0% of students off of their priority wait list this year because a higher number of freshman have enrolled than expected and the spaces have been filled up.
The admissions officer also told me that they may have some spots open up within the next few weeks, but it’s not likely.

Not a good year for college admissions…

adanpry, are you an international? any internationals taken off Princeton’s waitlist???

No, I’m in Colorado, sorry about that.
They actually called my home last night (I was at an awards ceremony) so they called my school today.

Apparently they’re calling in waves, so I wish you the best of luck!

keddy, Did you learn more about Notre Dame’s waitlist? I believe “Inactive waitlists” category was intended for those colleges who will definitely not be going to their waitlist.

oops my bad, no they are very non-commital either way.

I’m an international who had been put on the wait list. I just received a mail from the Director of Int. Admissions which I’ve copied herewith.

Does this mean that they are definitely thinking of taking me off the waitlist  , or is it just a scheduled check to determine who all are still interested in staying on the wait list:(?

If (fingers crossed) it is the former case then I guess you can add Tufts to the active waitlist lists.

Btw…I have replied stating that I still wanna go to the hill this fall!!

adanpry, did u write princeton a letter, sent grades while u r being waitlisted? I sent them my letter of intent, additional recommednation letter, and recent grades. Should I have my parent call about my status? What did you do, in particular, that may help my chances to get off the waitlist.

i’m taking carnegie mellon off the active waitlist list since they are accepting 0% of people off the waitlist this year.

Considering places like Rice and CMellon arn’t using waitlists this year, it seems that Harvard and Princeton really didnt have much ripple effect on everyone else…

It’s probably because Hahvahd and P-ton’s shared pool was more Ivies than anything else, at least imo.

In that respect, kids at Columbia, Cornell, Brown, etc. would benefit.

Not really since Columbia, Cornell, Brown would probably take more during the RD round instead of relying on the WL to fill their class.

Someone at my school got into Yale. He actually found out a couple weeks ago.

Any news on Brown?

Do you know if Tufts is just international or regular as well? Because I want to go to the hill as well, not international though

Hey Goldberg2, I’m an international and just received a letter 2day. Check post #450 for details. Sorry, but I can’t say about US applicants. Even I’m not sure if the letter meant that they do wanna get me off the waitlist. If they do (hopefully), I’m sure we will meet at the hill this fall.

can anyone confirm info about Notre Dame not going to the waitlist?? Read elsewhere that Wash U has made some calls. Anyone confirm that?
