What is “summer melt?”

Anyone knows anything about UMich?

Summer melt is when a student pays a deposit to a school by May 1, but then doesn’t show up in the Fall, usually because of accepting a waitlist opening at another school. Hopefully these students notify the first school, so that someone else can take the seat.

how many people have heard from MHC? only domestic or international as well?
I am an international, and am still waiting?

I think, if the student doesn’t inform the school that they’re off a waitlist, the school will know he’s not coming when he doesn’t pay up the quarter/semester’s tuition

Our son got a call Weds. night and was accepted from the wait list for Villanova.
He opted to say no and stick with his University of Maryland College Park Scholars program.

about the dartmoth waitlist, how do u know its keeping a short list???are these candidates notified??

thanks straight204…
i didn’t hand i an additional rec, but i did send in my new grades and a letter!
( i’m keeping fingers crossed, i jump every time the phone rings…)

have fun at Penn! are you def accepting?

Where do you get the active waitlist? Is there a site or just from each schools website?
Thanks.

Most likely, soulmates.

straight204–what school? and good choice!

Does anyone know anything about the status of the Vassar waitlist?

Where can you find the acitve waitlist thing? and has anyone heard from Wake Forest? Also, since unc-ch made their first round of people accepted off the waitlist, do you think they will make a second depending on how many people accept?

^^^ If you’re asking where we’re gather active waitlist info, we’re just keeping eyes on the forum of colleges that interest us. People there will start posting news articles or even say that they themselves have been accepted off waitlist. Then we come here and add or remove college from list depending on their activity.
We won’t know anything about any further waitlist activity unless the school officially releases information or we start seeing CC users taken off waitlists. According to CC list, Wake Forest is active.

Just for reference on this page, I’m pasting waitlist list.
