If you are trying to get off the waitlist at a college, should you tell them where you committed?
I committed to Emory and I am trying to get off the waitlist at WashU. Thanks!
No; why would you do that?
If you want to get off the wait list at WashU, contact them once. Ideally via hardcopy letter. Let them know that they’re your first choice school, and that if admitted, you plan to attend. Let them know of anything that’s changed about your application in a good way (higher grade in X, won an award, etc.) Then leave it. You’ll have done all you can.
