so i submitted a few waitlist updates. but i couldn’t seem to cut down the limit: I copied and pasted it from Word into the box, and they didn’t cut it off. Thus, all of my submissions were WELL over 600 characters… Did this happen to you?

The first time I submitted an update, the text box automatically cut off any extra characters over 600. But now, there is no limit.

What do you think the prospects are of getting of the waitlist? Any updates? I don’t even think they are going to go to the waitlist this year- I’ve heard SO many more people who are choosing Stanford over HPY.

To be totally honest, I think your chances are slim. Many many students I met at Admit Weekend were choosing Stanford over HYP. Whether or not that’s any different from last year’s class, however, I am not sure – and last year Stanford let a bunch of students off their waitlist IIRC.

I’d recommend that you continue to send updates, but don’t be excessive. Also try to accept one of the offers of another school to which you’ve been accepted. Learn to love this school as you did Stanford or you may end up sorely disappointed. I wish you luck!

Last year kids were taken off the waitlist because relatively fewer students were admitted initially. This was because the yield from the previous two years was a bit higher than expected and there was actually a housing shortage.

In all honesty, I’d be shocked if anyone came off the waitlist. Last year was the first time in the past 6-7 years where anyone did, and it was a special case.

^ They admitted the same number of students this year as last year.

But to echo the sentiment of this thread, it seems like there aren’t going to be many (if any) students off of the waitlist this year since there is definitely going to be a higher yield rate than last year.
