I applied to andover, deerfield, and lawrenceville. Deerfield was my number one choice, andover was my number two choice, and Lawrenceville was number 3. I was rejected by andover, waitlisted by deerfield, and accepted to lawrenceville. I liked lawrenceville but deerfield is still my number one choice. How long should I wait to be notified by deerfield? does anyone know when they go to their waitlist? I am asking this because the contract to the only school I got accepted to is due on the 10th. What should I do?

You should go to lawrencville. Don’t risk it…

isn’t there anyway that I can hold off on L’ville and wait for Deerfield

Not without risking losing a lot of money. I would read the lawrecville contract very well and see what their policy is about that kind of stuff. But you will for sure lose your deposit and possibly be liable for the whole next years school fees.

Consult an attorney who understands the boilerplate and fine print. Maybe the contract is not enforceable. An attorney will give you better advice than anyone on these boards.

Is the tuition contract due on the 10th or is is the deposit? If it is a deposit, you will just not get the money back. If you get off the wait list before June, you can decide if you are fine with not getting the deposit back. However, if it is a tuition contract, please read through the conditions carefully. Most tuition contracts are due in June.

I would just go to lawrenceville. They are both really great schools on the same level…

i remember someone saying that you can still hold your place in the school you got accepted to, and if by any means you get off the waiting list, you can transfer then.

thats why schools call you as late as august ( i think ) to notify whether you got off the waitinglist or not.

but, by all means, you are secure in lawrenceville. you should be happy. yea, deerfield might have been your number one choice. well, the best thing i can say to you is…
don’t try to think about deerfield too much. if you hear any news from deerfield after april 10th, you can still opt out of the school you got into. but yea, you should be celebratin right now. lawrenceville is an amazing school.

i wish you the best

Try calling Deerfield Admissions to ask them candidly about your chances on the waitlist, reiterate them as your first choice…if they do not offer a commitment, Lawrenceville is your destiny, and a wonderful one at that!
