Waitlisted for UVA, but...

I was hopeful about getting my admission or rejection decision from UVA as a transfer student on May 1st. But, it seems they have put me on their waitlist and will send me a decision between the third week of May and the end of June.

The problem is, my visa status has recently expired. If I get admitted, UVA can issue me an I-20 form which I can use to get a student visa, but I don’t know if it will be too late if I wait until the end of June. I don’t know much about visa policy… maybe someone who knows more can help me.

I have been living in the US for the last 8 years under an H-4 visa.

So now I’m confused. Should I wait? Which I want to do because I really want to get into UVA, or should I go to another college where I’ve already been admitted?

I think you can stay here for a certain length of period (90 days, not sure) after your visa expires. I would call your consulate and check with them.
