Waitlisted Stanford Applicants 2010

<p>Hey guys, I didn’t see any threads specifically started for waitlisted applicants, so I thought I’d start one to exchange FAQs about the process. Stanford’s yield dropped, as far as I know, from 72% - 70% from 2008-2009. The article below talks a little about how Stanford used the waitlist more because they overenrolled in previous years - any predictions as to whether this trend will continue, allowing a decent number of students off the waitlist again? I’m crossing my fingers, but remaining realistic (and getting excited about my other options!). </p>

<p>Since I can empathize with the waitlisters, as I was one, here are some numbers to crunch.</p>

<p>The exact number of applicants is 32022. 32022 * .072 = 2305 acceptances.</p>

<p>If we assume last years yield 2305 * .7 = 1614 projected matriculations.</p>

<p>There are 1694 freshmen in the class of '13.</p>

<p>Are you seeing what I am seeing? At the same time though, it might be bad for you to realize this. I completely put Stanford out of my mind and then I was pretty shocked when I got an email saying I was accepted. Just pretend Stanford does not exist for now.</p>
