Waitlisted; Teacher/Coach Send EC Accomplishment Update?

If you’re waitlisted, and recently win some big award, is it at all helpful to have your coach/teacher call the school and let them know of your accomplishment? Some schools say they don’t want any more recommendations, but in effect, this really wouldn’t be a recommendation, just a nice reminder of what I did coming from a highly reliable sources. Do colleges WANT this kind of stuff - or will a well written email from a student do the trick? If I’ve already sent them the information, would my coach calling seem repetitive or useless?

Bottom line:

** I’ve contacted my waitlist school twice (by letter and by email), should I have my coach call the school’s admissions office and remind them of my accomplishment despite having already emailed them concerning this same accomplishment; would the kind of credibility and additional information my coach would provide be helpful? **

Bumpation Bumpage Bumpity Bamp Bump.

It depends on schools. My daughter’s school had a good relationship with the school she was waitlisted on, so her counselor was on the phone with them quite often just to check the status, which I think brought a lot of attention to her app. When they were ready to make their decision, they thought of her. You GC would know if the college wants to be contacted. It also helped that we have let them know that she would definitely go if accepted in her letter to them.
