Waitlisted to Carnegie National High School Game Academy?

What is the point of having a waitlist if you don’t pull anyone from it???
I was told that I was waitlisted to NHSGA so I checked admission stats and found that a little over half of admitted actually went to the program. So I thought maybe the waitlist people have a chance. I call today and they say that they don’t think they are going to pull anyone from waitlists…why would you even have one in the beginning if you don’t pull anyone??? Or is that just a nice way of telling me I’m rejected?

You may already have an answer about this but this year the NHSGA had an unprecedented number of applicants accept. Usually programs/events plan for a percent drop off rate based on historic trends. (I work in IT marketing and for our events we plan on 30% drop off rate after people say they will come.) I don’t know what happened in this case exactly but we all got letters (I am a parent of a kid who is going to NHSGA this summer) asking if we would take a discount if my kid switched from NHSGA to either APEA or Art or a discount if we deferred until next summer. So that is why they aren’t taking people off a waitlist–they have way too many as it is this year which I was told was quite unexpected.
