Waitlisted: What will I miss from CPW?

I was waitlisted from MIT, and just want to know if there’s any important info or whatever that is given out/experienced at CPW that the Waitlistees and I won’t be able to experience?

What I think so far:
-Free food!
-Attend Classes
-Tour of Campus
-Lipsynch competition?
-ROFLCON?
-Cambridge Science Festival?
-Multicultural Festival?

Now, Last year I was lucky enough to be part of the Junior Fly-In program, which was a week after CPW. It was just a weekend where we attended a few classes, took some tours, toured some of Boston, went to the Lip-sync competition, etc. Anything extra going on in CPW?

MIT Acceptees, please feel free to post your CPW experiences and anything learned from CPW here for the Waitlistees.

THANKS! :D

Lipsync is after CPW this year, also, so prefrosh won’t be able to go unless they stay for a really long time. :)

The main benefits of CPW, as I see it, are seeing students in their native environments (which perhaps you’ve already seen from the Junior Fly-In program), and seeing/meeting with student groups, academic majors, and living groups. There are various fairs and open houses for departments/student groups, as well as activities put on by living groups. These will largely be repeated at orientation.

Okay, thanks. And on the crazy chance I get in, is there a summer pre-semester program/acclimation time? How early in August are you allowed to start living at MIT?

Orientation starts about two weeks before school does, and there are [pre-orientation programs](http://web.mit.edu/firstyear/2014/countdown/orientation.html) for people who would like to do something MIT-related earlier than that.

Officially, when freshmen are allowed to start moving in is at the discretion of each dorm’s house manager. In practice, the earliest freshmen who arrive are those in preorientation programs, international orientation, and fall sport athletes.

The earliest that you’re allowed to move into your temporary summer housing assignment is the Saturday before FPOPs start, unless you’re an athlete and get a special exception or something. The housing managers will be spending all of their time repainting the freshman room and fixing thing, so you can’t move in early because your room won’t be ready.

sweet talks of course
smack on harvard lol

That shark-infested school up the river? Yeah that one… lol

And thanks MollieBat! I’ll post what my friends tell me about CPW here for us to all read n stuff.

Sigh, I personally know more people who were accepted to MIT than who were rejected/waitlisted to MIT :c.

what is CPW?
