I’m very confused right now. I was waitlisted into Davis and accepted into UCSC and UCSB. I really want to major in neuroscience which is only available at UCD and UCSC before finally going to med school. I know UCD has a med school and is more prestigious, but is the difference really that substantial? Let’s add to the equation that I’m already set to shadow/intern with specialty doctors throughout my summers and even during the school year (as its only about an hour and a half away from either campus). All of the threads I’ve seen making comparisons about the schools said that the research/internship opportunities were the biggest differences, and so I asked around and set this up. What I’m mainly concerned about is the academics and how med schools will view the difference. I know many people have been waitlisted into UCD and I don’t want to accept the offer if I still have doubts about it. After all, I don’t want to take up 2 spots at school when I only need one.

Academically there will be no difference for medical school. As for the other aspects you need in order to a successful applicant, I can’t answer.
