Waitlisted?

I am waitlisted at Roosevelt Conservatory and was denied everywhere else. They said they would let me know by May 15th but I haven’t heard anything… Should I be worried??? This is my number one choice and my LAST option. I have been accepted to Columbia College Chicago but I would like a CONSERVATORY program. Any advice? Re audition next year?

CALL – let them know that they are your first choice and that you really want to attend; schools are highly motivated by student interest!

I called them early May. Should I call again? I don’t want to seem annoying…

I would call again on Tuesday. Reinforce your interest in a firm and polite way. Agree with MTTwinsinCA’s comment. Best wishes!

There is nothing wrong with being aggressive in your phone calling. I would definitely call on Tues. if you have still not heard. Make sure they know that this is your number 1 choice!

Hey there. I’m a current student at Roosevelt and a work-study in the admissions office. You should be hearing shortly. If you do not hear by May 15th, feel free to call the office. Even if you end up at Columbia, you can definitely put together a really great MT training program for yourself there. I know several people who have go there and really love the program. So no matter what, I don’t think you can lose at this point! You could also audition again next year as a transfer student. Good luck! Let me know if I can help in any way!

okay I’m confused about the whole waitlist process and how it relates to the May 1st official acceptance deadline/date…

Let’s say you are accepted to 3 schools (X, Y, and Z) and waitilisted at 2 (A and B)…but your first choice is A.

Do you go ahead and accept to either X, Y or Z so you have a spot and pay a deposit by the May 1st deadline? What happens if school A tells you after May 1st that you are now in, can you get your deposit back from school X or are you bound to go there??? Or do people just blow off their deposit from X because A is just worth it???

Thanks for any info…

Yes. You must send a deposit by May 1 to one of the schools where you have been accepted (school X). You should move forward with that school as if you are not on the waitlist on the first choice school.

If you are admitted off the waitlist at college A you the decide whether to accept the spot or not. In most cases you will loose the deposit at school X.

Sometimes you may not know if you have been admitted off the waitlist until as late as August. A few years ago we had an admitted student get off the waitlist at another school after he had already attended orientation here and gone to the first day of class. He choose to accept that spot at the other school, moved out of his dorm room and went through another orientation at the new school. We too had waitlisted him for our program, just had let him know earlier than his final school. So, I think he lost deposits at 2 schools.
