What’s an L?

lindseylujh

Oh D, must refer to me. Thanks for believing in me. We’ll find out on Dec 15.

Let me ask you guys a question… is everyone tired of all their friends, teachers, etc. telling you that “You’re in, stop worrying.” I have to explain to everyone how incredibly hard it is to get in and they still think I’m in no doubt.

yes, i get the same thing from people. ive given up trying to explain what a 10% admit rate means… i just smile and say “thanks, keep praying for it.”

hahaha it’s sooo annoying-- especially when I know I won;t get in

LOL yeah…people tell me the same thing. It makes me laugh, then gives me hope, then crushes me to think of the humiliation when it all doesn’t work out. *sigh…oh well…i guess we’ll see. OMG…i was just thinking…is it possible for the online notifications to be wrong? I mean, what if it says we get in…we’re so happy…then the letter comes at its “deferred” or “rejected”??? that would KILL ME! :)

I think that happened one year with Cornell. They sent out something like 2000 acceptance letters that were supposed to be rejection letters. Ouch.

OMG…really? that extremely cruel.

Thanks for the confidence Zuma. I really hope you’re right.

how about Thanksgiving… I’m really glad for the break from school and it will make 5 days go by really quickly (wednesday is a half day at school) but all of those family members asking about college “where did you apply” “where are you going” “did you get in yet” my family events might be more painfully slow college-wait-wise than days at school. so i think its a toss up…
what do you guys think?

Going back to what pre1321 said… YES. I totally understand what you’re talking about (as, apparently, do a lot of people here!). If I express concern over my application, the automatic response is one of two things: “Come /on/, you got a 1600!” as if this is a golden ticket into the chocolate factory or “Yeah, it /is/ really hard. Like no one gets in,” the more realistic but still insincere remark from the kids who want you to be as miserable as they are. I’m very thankful that I’ve found you all, a large group of people with whom I can commiserate. ;)

In response to iplayoboe: My family doesn’t get together for Thanksgiving, so I won’t have to put up with harassment, thankfully. However, we do get the entire Thanksgiving week off from school. For me, though, days without school are almost painfully slow. Blah!

I feel out of the loop. What is URM status?

Under-represented racial minority, I think. I’ve been wondering about that for a while, but I’m too much of a wimp to ask, so I just made that up. Let’s hope it’s right. ;)

Yes, that’s correct dtown.

ah. that makes sense. thankyou
